How many years have you been in the school business profession?
Although I have experience working in the public sector, this is my first year working in the school business profession.
How did you first learn about and then become involved in the school business profession?
I have previous experience working with the Ohio Auditor of State. School districts were always my favorite clients to work with, and I always enjoyed working with other school treasurers. When there was a job opening for a school treasurer position at the career center that is just down the street from my house, I knew I had to take the opportunity!
What is your proudest career accomplishment?
I’m honestly very proud to be stepping into this new position where I get to support the center and our community. It is truly a dream job for me. I am very honored by the trust our Board of Education has placed in me!
What do you feel is the most important part of your job?
I think one of the most important things you can do as a school treasurer is ensure that you are a clear and effective communicator to all of your decision-makers and stakeholders.
What is one thing you feel makes your district unique in the state?
I think what makes our school unique is having a leadership team with a really strong vision. We focus on bringing people together and making intentional, collaborative decisions, and that shared commitment to excellence is what I think will lead to a bright future for our center.
What is at the top of your professional bucket list?
I would love to eventually become a mentor to someone. I have had so many great people help me along the way, and the opportunity to pour back into others would be wonderful.
What is something your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?
I think one interesting thing about me is that when I was younger, I heavily considered becoming a math teacher. I really do love the education world. I ultimately chose a different career path, but I've found my way back to supporting students and learning from a difference lens!
If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
A cat. I feel like they are kind of fabulous.

What is one of your favorite expressions?

When someone finds out what you do, what's one of the first questions they always ask you?
I have actually had a lot of people ask me if I get summers off. They are usually surprised to hear that I will be busy closing the fiscal year, and it's not done by the pool!
What has been the best, or your favorite part of being involved in OASBO?
I've loved getting an opportunity to expand my professional network within the community. It's clear that it is a very collaborative environment!
