How many years have you been in the school business profession?

Ten years!

How did you first learn about and then become involved in the school business profession?

I first learned of the school business profession when I was working in higher education. I recall my manager at that time informing me he was leaving to become the Assistant Treasurer for a local district. Shortly after, I left the college to accept a position at CMSD.

What is your proudest career accomplishment?

My proudest career accomplishment is difficult to name. I feel incredibly blessed to serve in the capacity I do. I learned a lot from Dr. Marguerite Roza as part of Georgetown's inaugural Certificate of Finance Education class, and receiving the Richard H. Hines award from the Council of Great City Schools are among the top moments of my career thus far.

What do you feel is the most important part of your job?

I feel the most important part of my job is to ensure resources are stewarded responsibly, reported clearly, and are aligned with the district's strategic priorities.

What is one thing you feel makes your position unique in the state?

My district is deeply engaged in advocacy and support for public education. We often take students to Columbus to advocate and give testimony before the legislature. It is exciting to be a part of.

What is at the top of your professional bucket list?

Helping to grow future Treasurers.

What is something your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?

How much I enjoy a good karaoke night!

If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

A dolphin!

Favorite TV Show?

Reality TV is my guilty pleasure, I will make time for Love is Blind or Married at First Sight!

Favorite Movie?

Hitch

Favorite Food?

Pasta....send help!

What is one of your favorite expressions?

I'm minding my business.

When someone finds out what you do, what's one of the first questions they always ask you?

I often get asked if I work with kids.

What has been the best, or your favorite part, of being involved in OASBO?

Honestly the support from colleagues. I get to work with people that I admire professionally and they are so supportive and willing to share. I would not have survived my first year as a Treasurer if not for Nicole Marshall, my OASBO mentor and Todd Griffith. They are rockstars who took the time to help me be successful.

Angéle,

It was truly a pleasure working with you during your time here at RCSD. You’re deeply missed, and your kindness made a real impact on everyone around you. I learned a great deal from you, and your guidance pushed me to explore higher education in school business. Thank you for always encouraging me to keep trying it meant more than you know.

Keep being you, and keep being an amazing voice for school funding and policy.
