How many years have you been in the school business profession?

26 Years

How did you first learn about and then become involved in the school business profession?

My introduction to the school business profession came during my tenure as a staff accountant. At that time, I was part of the Local Government Services department within the Auditor of State's Office. This experience provided me with valuable insights into the operations and responsibilities associated with school business administration.

What is your proudest career accomplishment?

One of my greatest professional achievements was assisting our district in reducing auditor of state findings and questioned costs from 26  down to zero through the implementation of corrective actions.

What do you feel is the most important part of your job?

The most important part of my job is to manage, distribute, and report on the district's annual
$1.6 billion budget.

What is one thing you feel makes your district unique in the state?

As the largest school district in Ohio, serving more than 45,000 students, we are unique by our diverse community, including families from over 104 countries who speak 95 different languages.

What is at the top of your professional bucket list?

My main professional goal is to share my insights to support future accountants' success.

What is something your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?

It might surprise my colleagues to learn that I was the starting center on Akron Buchtel's football team, which won back-to-back state championships.

If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

If I were an animal, I would be a lion.

Favorite TV Show?

My favorite TV show is Stranger Things.

Favorite Movie?

My favorite movie is the Blues Brothers.

Favorite Food?

My favorite food is barbecue ribs.

What is one of your favorite expressions?

My favorite expression is one day at a time.

When someone finds out what you do, what's one of the first questions they always ask you?

When someone finds out what I do, the first thing they ask me is can I do their taxes.

What has been the best, or your favorite part of being involved in OASBO?

My favorite part of being involved in OASBO is collaborating with so many awesome like-minded professionals.
