I am honored to share that my fellow OASBO Past President Scott Gooding received the 2025 Distinguished Eagle Award at the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) Annual Conference & Expo in Fort Worth, Texas. It was great to see Scott stand before nearly 1,000 conference attendees to receive this prestigious national award. All OASBO members should take inspiration from the way Scott has distinguished himself professionally.
The Eagle Award is the highest honor in school business, recognizing outstanding and unique contributions made by school business officials to their districts and the profession.
Scott has 28 years of experience as a school business professional, serving in both small and large districts. He has served on the OASBO Board of Directors for nine years in roles ranging from secretary/treasurer to president. Scott is currently running unopposed to serve as a director of ASBO International.
Scott is passionate about advancing the profession. He mentors new leaders and helps them build strong networks through OASBO and ASBO International. He promotes strategic, transparent budgeting that is focused on students.
Participation in ASBO International provides additional perspective for Ohio school business officials and provides opportunities to learn from and network with peers from all over the nation. OASBO is a state affiliate of ASBO International. Scott’s recognition reflects not only his personal journey, but also the dedication and collaborative spirit of Ohio school business professionals and the support of the entire team at Big Walnut Local Schools.
Scott looks forward to using this recognition as a platform to strengthen mentorship, promote best practices, and support the next generation of leaders in school business. Join me in congratulating him on this honor.
Additionally, I recognize that many OASBO members are doing great things professionally. I encourage OASBO members to apply for this deserved recognition. The 2026 ASBO International Annual Conference & Expo will be held in Pittsburgh.
