Re: Biennial budget conversations and materials

The process for the next biennial budget is already underway. State agencies have made their budget requests to Gov. Mike DeWine, and he is slated to unveil his budget proposal on Feb. 3, 2025.

It is essential to have conversations with all returning and newly elected state legislators about the next biennial budget. This will allow you to share information before budget deliberations begin. School funding is just one of many issues competing for attention.

Our associations have worked together to develop budget resources to help you prepare for those conversations. The Budget Priorities/Requests will help you become familiar with the asks for the upcoming biennial budget and provide you with talking points on the rationale for those requests. The Information to Share with Legislators will help you identify information to help legislators understand your district, your students and your current funding situation. The Additional Resources will provide information for you should you wish to take a deeper dive into studies and reports around the funding formula and local taxes.

Once you have had your conversations, please share a summary with us. This will help track which legislators have been contacted so we can ensure each representative and senator receives outreach and district-specific information ahead of the budget deliberations.
