Keep Up The Pressure!
Thank you for all your advocacy efforts in opposition to House Bill (HB) 126. As a reminder, some of the proposed changes in HB 126 include:
- Prohibiting boards of education (BOE) from filing initial complaints on properties;
- Allowing BOEs to file counter-complaint only if (1) the school board adopts a resolution authorizing the counter-complaint, including evidence for a higher valuation, (2) the board includes only one complaint per resolution, and (3) the board includes with the resolution a copy of the counter-complaint;
- Prohibiting BOEs from utilizing direct pay settlements for counter-complaints; and
- Prohibiting BOEs from appealing a board of revision (BOR) decision.
The bill's status has not changed since our last eAlert on Jan. 28.
