Fair School Funding Plan - Senate District Meetings

By Katie Johnson posted 04-12-2021 01:58 PM

OASBO members and other school district leaders have done an excellent job advocating for the Fair School Funding Plan (FSFP) across the state. Treasurer/CFOs, as part of senate district leadership teams, have worked to organize and facilitate meetings with their senators to advocate for the FSFP.

Your participation in these meetings, as well as other local and regional efforts, have a strong impact and make a big difference! Our efforts to date have focused on republican senators, but please do not forget to reach out to all members in both the House and Senate to advance the FSFP.

Resources to assist in your advocacy efforts are posted to the OASBO Advocacy Hub. You are also welcome to share these resources with your school district colleagues and to use in your local community's advocacy efforts. Click here to access the resources listed below.
  • A sample script for the meeting with your senator;
  • A sample presentation on FSFP;
  • A FAQ and talking points document addressing the overall concepts of the FSFP in more detail;
  • A senate talking points document addressing questions raised by the Senate, including a suggested solution for "how to pay for it"; and
  • Form letters to send to senators following the senate district meetings; and
  • A form resolution in support.

In the coming weeks, we will be providing additional resources for you to use with your communities, including teachers, parents, business partners, and others.

A special thanks to those listed below who are serving on the senate district leadership teams!
