Hearings on the Fair School Funding Plan have been scheduled in both the House and Senate Finance Committees for the first week of December, as follows:
- House Finance Committee (Eighth Hearing), All Testimony - Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 10:00 a.m. in House Finance Hearing Room;
- Senate Finance Committee (Second Hearing), Invited Testimony - Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 1:30 p.m. in Senate Finance Hearing Room; and
- House Finance Committee (Ninth Hearing), Proponent/Interested Party Testimony - Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 10:00 a.m. in House Finance Hearing Room.
If you would like to testify on behalf of your school district in support of the Fair School Funding Plan, you can do so on Tuesday and Wednesday before the House Finance Committee. Please feel free to contact any of us for help with submitting your witness slip and testimony 24 hours before the committee hearing. As noted above, the Senate Finance Committee will hear invited only testimony from the Cupp/Patterson Work Group during the Tuesday hearing. We anticipate that the school district leaders who presented testimony for their respective regions in the House Finance Committee will have the opportunity to testify again in the Senate Finance Committee.
It is important that we have as many districts as possible sign-on for the testimony for their region. When the regional representatives have the opportunity to give their testimony in the Senate Finance Committee, it is crucial for them to note that they are representing school districts from across their region. The deadline to sign-on to testimony from your region is 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.
Links to their testimony are included below. If you have not already signed on to your region’s testimony, please consider doing so. You can sign-on by clicking here.
It is critical that you contact your local legislators, especially your senators, and stress the importance of passing the Fair School Funding Plan before the end of the year. We have included resources below to assist you in this effort.
