How many years have you been in the school business profession?

I have been in government accounting for 14 years, five years as the assistant treasurer, and then a little over one year as treasurer.

How did you first learn about and then become involved in the school business profession?

I first learned about the school business profession when I was in a graduate class. I was talking to my professor, and we were thinking about what I should do, and there was an opening for a state auditor. I interviewed and I got the job. With that job, I would go to different school districts and different counties and townships to audit them. When I got into the schools, I just loved what they did, so I just worked my way in that way.

What is your proudest career accomplishment to date?

I would have to say, I know it sounds silly, but I would have to say my treasurer's license. I think I worked really hard to become what I am today, and I'm very proud of it.

What do you feel is the most important part of your job?

I think the most important job is the community and making sure that their property taxes are definitely accounted for in the appropriate way.

What's one thing you think makes your district unique?

One thing I think that makes my district unique is that it's smaller and it's just a nice little community. Everybody knows everybody, I know the students, the students know me, and I think it's just very important that, the community feel.

What’s at the top of your personal bucket list?

I would love to be some kind of state representative or congresswoman. I think that would be awesome.

Who is your hero?

My hero would be my mother.

How many years have you been an OASBO member?

Four or five years.

How and why did you first get involved in OASBO

I would say the first treasurer I was under told me about OASBO saying it was a great professional program and I joined then.

What's been either the best part of being involved in OASBO?

I think the best part about being involved in OASBO is just the people. Everybody's been so nice and so helpful. It's just a little community that you can talk to and ask questions and it's a no judgment-free zone.

If you were an office supply item, what would you be and why?

probably a highlighter or a sticky note. I love looking through the aisles and looking at the highlighters and sticky note in office supply stores.

If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

I would be a dog.

Favorite TV show?

I have so many but if I’m picking one, “Golden Girls.”

Favorite food?

Spaghetti, pizza, or anything Italian.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what would the title be?

“Short and Sweet.”

When someone finds out what you do, what's the first question they always ask you?

They ask if I can do their taxes.
