How many years have you been in the school business profession?

Five years in school finance, eight years in Ohio public schools

How did you first learn about and then become involved in the school business profession?

I started my career in the public schools setting as an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent at Little Miami Local Schools. At which time, I filled in for the Accounts Payable Clerk for 8 weeks while off on maternity leave. It was at that time I realized my passion for numbers. I went back to school to complete more Accounting classes, school law, and school finance. I landed my first payroll position in October 2021.

What is your proudest career accomplishment?

Earning my School Treasurer's License within the five-year goal I set for myself!

What do you feel is the most important part of your job?

The most important parts of my job are accuracy and timeliness. Oftentimes, our staff are working paycheck to paycheck and they rely heavily on our timeliness and accuracy in processing their pay.

What is one thing you feel makes your district unique in the state?

West Clermont Local Schools is unique because it combines the resources and opportunities of a large district with the unity of a single comprehensive high school. This allows the district to provide exceptional academic, extracurricular, and career-focused opportunities while maintaining a strong sense of community and ensuring every student has access to the same high-quality programs.

What is at the top of your professional bucket list?

Becoming an Ohio School Treasurer.

What is something your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?

My hobbies have a very eclectic range, from hunting, hiking, camping & fishing with my husband; raising chickens & gardening (my ME time) to crocheting and other  crafts with my daughter.

If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

French Bulldog - My two Frenchies are spoiled rotten :)

Favorite TV Show?

Any Taylor Sheridan series!!

Favorite Movie?

Harper Valley PTA (a local movie out of Lebanon, Ohio that my late father had a part in back in high school)

Favorite Food?

Tie between seafood & ribeye steak

What is one of your favorite expressions?

Progress, not perfection!

When someone finds out what you do, what's one of the first questions they always ask you?

It will always and forever be the statement: "I bet you love having your summers off!" Unfortunately, if you say the word "school" it is just presumed.

What has been the best, or your favorite part of being involved in OASBO?

The relationships I have built since being involved. The networking opportunities are hands down the best!
