How many years have you been in the school business profession?

Eight years, including 6 years at an ITC and 2 years as treasurer

How did you first learn about and then become involved in the school business profession?

I applied for a job opening at NOACSC, the ITC, and I had many years of payroll and accounting experience.

What is your proudest career accomplishment?

I would say helping to migrate multiple districts from the old E-term/Classic state software to the new USPS and USAS systems. It was so exciting for many to move onto something more visually friendly. After receiving a few years of training about school accounting, I am now back at my home school in the district where I live.

What do you feel is the most important part of your job?

Keeping the school on course to educate ALL kids to become productive citizens in today's society. It's a small school with quite a few students out there making big contributions.

What is one thing you feel makes your district unique in the state?

Our school is the biggest employer in the village. We have educated multiple doctors and lawyers who began life here in our small town. Many still live here and we're educating their children also.

What is at the top of your professional bucket list?

I am living that right now as a school treasurer at the school most of my family has graduated from, including my Dad.

What is something your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?

My first vehicle purchase at age 18 was a motorcycle, which I rode for many years.

If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

Some days a silver fox and some days an old groundhog. :)

Favorite TV Show?

I'm going to go with old Andy Griffith reruns.

Favorite Movie?

Forrest Gump - So many life lessons in that movie.

Favorite Food?

Mexican food

What is one of your favorite expressions?

You can't do the same thing over and over and expect a different result.

When someone finds out what you do, what's one of the first questions they always ask you?

Do you get summers off? NO, we don't.

What has been the best, or your favorite part of being involved in OASBO?

OASBO has so much knowledge to share. Don't miss the conferences or random trainings. They are worth it! Go in person sometimes to network with other people.
