K-12 School Safety Grant Program - Award List Announced

By Katie Johnson posted 12-01-2022 01:03 PM

This week, Gov. DeWine announced the list of schools receiving funds from the K-12 School Safety Grant Program. A total of 708 schools will receive $57.8 million in grant funding to enhance student and staff safety.  Click here for the list of schools.

This funding is part of the $100 million appropriation included in the capital appropriations bill (HB 687), signed into law in June. In August, $47 million was allotted to districts that applied to the program last year but did not receive funding. The grants announced this week represent the remaining amount to be awarded from the $100 million appropriation.

The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) will administer the funds using procedures determined by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Learn more about the program here.

As a reminder, work funded under this grant must be contracted by Dec. 31, 2023 and completed by Sept. 30, 2024, unless otherwise approved by OFCC.

The OFCC will have more information posted on their website, including next steps for those who received an award and procurement resources.
