ODE has released a draft copy of the Ohio Dyslexia Handbook which can be found here.
Note that this is not the final version, it is only a draft. Changes will be made to this draft before the final version is approved by the State Board of Education in early 2022.
The input of our members is important as the draft is edited in preparation for approval by the State Board of Education. Feedback must be provided using the public comment questionnaire.
The deadline for submission of public comments is January 19; however, ODE has asked that our Association members submit their feedback by Monday, January 3.
The Dyslexia Committee will be meeting again on Wednesday, December 15 and will be voting on the required hours of dyslexia-related professional development for K to 3 classroom teachers and K to 12 intervention specialists (the legislation defines this as “6 to 18 hours”). If you can submit your feedback prior to that December 15 meeting, it would be helpful.
