How many years have you been in the school business profession?

I am in my 20th year.

How did you first learn about and get involved in the profession?
My daughter was in kindergarten and I needed a more flexible job. A family friend mentioned school finance to me, and I applied for the job. I've been in school finance ever since.

What is your proudest career accomplishment?
Receiving the Southeastern Region Distinguished Service Award from OASBO this year.

What do you feel is the most important part of your job?
Trying to balance the wants and needs of the entire district, while keeping everyone happy.

What makes your district unique?
Our district has a solar farm with sheep to keep the grass cut. We also are home to Roy Rogers. This was his childhood home, and our football field is named for him.

What's at the top of your professional bucket list?
To serve on the OASBO Board of Directors.

What's at the top of your personal bucket list?
To go to the Tour de France.

Who is your hero?
My mom. She's been battling colon cancer for two years, and she still cooks dinner for my cousin, takes care of my grandparents who are in their 90s, and she still takes care of us. She's definitely my hero.

If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
A penguin. I have collected penguins for 40 years, and they're just cute.

What's your favorite movie?
"Gone with the Wind"

What's your favorite food?
Anything Mexican.

Why did you first get involved in OASBO?
I got involved to network, learn, and grow in my profession.

What roles or positions have you held in OASBO?
I am currently the chairperson of the Southern Hills OASBO Committee as well as the chairperson of the Annual Conference Special Events Subcommittee.

What's been the best or your favorite part of being involved in OASBO?
I've enjoyed getting to know people from across the state. You realize that everyone has the same problems and faces the same difficulties that you do.
