On Tuesday, the Senate Primary and Secondary Education Committee accepted a number of amendments to the substitute flexibility bill – House Bill (HB) 583. The amendments include the following, among others:
- Makes corrective changes to foundation and non-foundation aid to schools as enacted in the state's operating budget;
- Provides a one-year delay on the statewide dyslexia screening requirement initially set to take effect for the 2022-23 school year; and
- Extends the reporting deadline for a study committee examining the state's substitute teacher shortage.
The Senate Primary and Secondary Education Committee is expected to consider additional changes to the bill next week.
