By Katie Johnson posted 06-15-2021 11:13 AM

Last Thursday, the House voted not to concur with the Senate's changes to House Bill (HB) 110, the state budget bill for FY 2022 and FY 2023. We will be hosting a webinar this Friday, June 18 at 1:00 p.m. to review the details of the Senate-passed version of HB 110. Space is limited, please register to reserve a spot.

Conference Committee
A conference committee will now be convened to reconcile the differences between the House-passed and Senate-passed versions of the bill. Click here for a comparison of the changes between the executive, House, and Senate versions of the bill.

The conference committee is scheduled to meet today at 1:00 pm in the House Finance Hearing Room to hear testimony from the Office of Budget and Management and the Legislative Service Commission. Watch live on the Ohio Channel.

Members of the conference committee have yet to be formally announced but will include Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) and Sen. Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls), each of whom chairs the finance committees of their respective chambers. We will update members with contact information when the full committee is announced.

Important Next Steps
It is important that you remain engaged throughout the conference committee process and help to influence the outcome.

  1. Speak with Legislators. Please contact your House and Senate members as soon as possible. It is important that they hear from all of the school districts in their region. We have developed talking points and essential questions for you to use when communicating with your legislators. Click here for those talking points. Senate contact information can be found here. House contact information can be found here.

The Senate District Leadership Teams are also working to schedule follow-up meetings with Senators. These same talking points can be used for reference during your Senate District Meeting.
  2. Send Letter to Speaker Cupp. Send a letter to Speaker Cupp thanking him for his unwavering commitment and years of dedication to craft a fair, equitable and adequate approach to school funding for Ohio’s children. Speaker Cupp needs to know he is supported by our members as he fights for the Fair School Funding Formula in the conference committee. Click here for a template letter.
