Every year we look forward to our meeting with SERS. The meeting this year will be virtual and is scheduled for April 23, 10 a.m - 12:30 p.m.

If you have not already done so, please click here to RSVP for the meeting.

Following the presentation and update from SERS, we plan to open the meeting up for discussion. Listed below are some of the topics and questions that we're hoping to discuss. To ensure that we make the most of our time together, please take a minute to review and think about the questions prior to the meeting.

Hope to see you on April 23!

    Discussion Topics and Questions
    • Sustainability
      • SERS has evaluated sustainability over the past year. Have you been following the sustainability process?
      • What should be the criteria to qualify as a year of service?
        • What is a typical work year for your staff? More than 120 days?
        • What is considered a standard work year for districts?
        • What should the right number be to earn a full year of SERS service credit?
      • For individuals who fall within the 120-180 day category:
        • Are these individuals working the entire year? Or are they mainly partial-year employees?
        • Do these individuals transition from a 120-day threshold early in career, with 180 day year in later service?
        • Are there positions that are more than 120 days, but less than 180 days? Are these positions made up of transitionary employees?
    • Recruitment and Retention of Employees/Staff
      • Do you believe the SERS benefit structure, supports your efforts to attract and retain employees? For the long term?
      • Does our pension benefit plan contribute to your ability to attract and retain employees? Retiree health care?
      • If SERS ultimately decided to make changes to benefit, would that be problematic to apply those changes to new hires only. Is that a problem for attracting new employees?
    • Employee Count
      • Over last 5 years has your employee count increased or decreased?
      • Do you expect that trend to continue?
