How many years have you been in the school business profession?

2.5 years

How did you first learn about and then become involved in the school business profession?

I spent 19 years managing federal programs and grants, which required close collaboration with the Finance Office. Through this work, I discovered an aptitude for school finance, and my colleagues often joked that they would make an accountant out of me one day. This experience ultimately led me to pursue my treasurer’s license through the OASBO Pathway Program.

What is your proudest career accomplishment?

There are so many small moments that make me proud of what I do. But the proudest has to be securing a $10 million Magnet Schools Assistance grant that helped my former district implement innovative educational programming, engaging thousands of kids in learning math and reading through the fine arts. I've always enjoyed helping to fund programs that make a difference for students and their families.

What do you feel is the most important part of your job?

The most important aspect of my job is to help ensure our staff have the financial resources they need to serve our students and families.

What is one thing you feel makes your district unique in the state?

Green Local Schools is a small, community-centered district in Wayne County with a unique K–12 campus that brings students and staff together in one place. This setup encourages strong relationships, smooth transitions between grade levels, and thoughtful use of resources. Our district is focused on helping students succeed academically, managing resources responsibly, and preparing graduates for college, careers, and active citizenship.

What is at the top of your professional bucket list?

One of my professional goals is to present at an OASBO Annual Conference.

What is something your colleagues would be surprised to learn about you?

Although I am an introvert, I love public speaking.

If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

I'd be a cat - lots of sleeping.

Favorite TV Show

Grey's Anatomy

Favorite Movie?

Woman in Gold

Favorite Food?

 Pizza

What is one of your favorite expressions?

My office has a saying that I've adopted: It's fine. I'm fine. Everything is Fine!

When someone finds out what you do, what's one of the first questions they always ask you?

Do you have summers off? If only someone else was in charge of payroll )

What has been the best, or your favorite part of being involved in OASBO?

I couldn't imagine being a treasurer without OASBO. This community of colleagues is the most supportive group of people I've ever encountered.
